Passive Fire Protection Systems
Unlike active systems, passive fire protection (PFP) does not “activate” and has no moving parts. It is integrated into the building’s structure itself, and its purpose is to contain the fire within a single zone (fire compartment) and prevent the building from collapsing for a specified period of time.
Static Smoke Curtains
They are attached to the ceiling and remain there permanently. They are made of non-flammable fabric (fiberglass) reinforced with metal thread.
They are used in industrial buildings and warehouses where aesthetics are not a priority.
Automatic Smoke Curtains (Active)
They are hidden in a box in the attic and are only lowered in the event of a fire.
When a signal is received from the fire control center, they descend under their own weight (Gravity Fail-Safe).
Fire Curtains
Automated passive fire protection systems that are activated by a signal from the fire alarm system. They are made of non-combustible fabric (fiberglass reinforced with steel) and are used to divide the building into fire compartments without disrupting the architectural appearance when not in use.
